Our Mission
CdM Aquatics is committed to creating a healthy competitive environment in an atmosphere instilled with high ethical values. We take pride in the opportunity team sports presents to emphasize personal growth alongside the development of competitive athletics.
CdM Aquatics was formed to encourage girls and boys who want to achieve their maximum individual potential in a team environment. We provide a well-organized age group water polo club program for players ranging from Olympic Silver Medal athletes like Ryan Bailey, to ten-year-old beginners with very little skill but lots of determination. Prior water polo experience is not required in order to join the aquatics club.
A Successful Blend
World-class water polo coaches, the finest aquatics facility, tremendous parent involvement, and fun-loving, hard-working Corona del Mar athletes combine to create one of the greatest experiences a Southern Californian youth athlete could seek.
What Differentiates Us
Current Corona del Mar High School water polo coaches Sam Bailey and Barry O'Dea set the tone and program for the age group water polo club.
Elite athletes serve as role models for younger girls and boys in the water polo program. Given the opportunity to observe and talk to some of the nation’s best athletes, a young girl or boy who joins CdM Aquatics will assimilate how great water polo players handle themselves in practices, scrimmages, and games. CdM water polo coaches and parents agree that this is a powerful motivation for young girls and boys.
Players participate in game nights for all age groups under the lights of the Marian Bergeson Aquatics Center.
CdM Aquatics has the ability to host International, National, and All-Star water polo events.
Well-organized water polo travel trips teach players to be responsible as they represent CdM Aquatics on the road.
Our Workouts
The aquatics workouts teach boys and girls water polo techniques that can be used in high school and college. Age group water polo players learn basic passing and shooting, as well as different styles of defense and offense. Workouts are structured to progress on a skill path where more complex skills can easily be added to a foundation of knowledge as girls and boys age.
Our Values
CdM Aquatics offers an experience that reaches far beyond a physical fitness program. We strive to build self-esteem, character, teamwork, and a strong work ethic, and we encourage the age group water polo players to apply these values to all aspects of their lives.
• The Double-Goal Coach®, whose first goal is winning, and whose second, more-important goal is teaching life lessons through sports
• The Second-Goal Parent®, who concentrates on life lessons, while letting coaches and athletes focus on competing
• The Triple-Impact Competitor®, who strives to impact sport on three levels by improving oneself, teammates and the game as a whole.
Judgment of our successes lay exclusively within each of us, and is limited only by what we put into our journey to achieve our personal competitive greatness.
